HEPATITIS B

While Macon State College does not require vaccination against Hepatitis B, students are strongly encouraged to be aware of the risk factors, symptoms, and preventative measures for the disease. College freshmen, especially those living in dormitories, are at a higher risk for Hepatitis and should be educated about the availability of a safe and effective vaccine which can decrease the risk. To find out more information, visit the Centers for Disease Control website and review the information presented on Hepatitis B or contact your personal physician or local Health Department.

MENINGITIS (MENINGOCCAL DISEASE)

While Macon State College does not require vaccination against meningitis (meningococcal disease), students are strongly encouraged to be aware of the risk factors, symptoms, and preventative measures for the disease. College freshmen, especially those living in dormitories, are at a higher risk for meningococcal disease and should be educated about the availability of a safe and effective vaccine which can decrease the risk.
