Dear Parent,

The Staff of the Office of Residence Life would like to welcome you and your son/daughter to Macon State College. This is an exciting time filled with changes not only for students, but for parents as well. In anticipation of your student joining the Residence Life community, I want to make sure as a parent or guardian you are well informed as to what is offered to, as well as expected of your student.

As a member of the Residence Life community, your student will be supported on site by a variety of staff members employed by the College. The Residence Life staff consists of the Director of Residence Life, Resident Coordinators, and Resident Assistants. Each apartment is served by a Resident Assistant whose job it is to make sure students are acclimated to their new home, who offer a variety of social and educational programs and assure that students adhere to the behavioral standards outlined in the Student Handbook and Residence Life Handbook.

There will be a number of programs throughout the year, which will give students the opportunity to receive tutoring and academic support, join social groups or clubs, participate in intramurals and recreation, and become a leader on-campus. Residence Life is more than an option...it's an opportunity.

Please continue to check this parents page throughout the year, as we will keep you updated on information important to you and your student. Additionally a calendar of events is provided, so you can communicate about upcoming opportunities with your student. Our staff members look forward to serving your student's needs and we are pleased he/she decided to learn and live with us.
