Grade Processing Information
Q. Are my grades available on-line?
A. All students, including transients, have an account on Banner Web and can access their student records and grades. For information on how to do this please click on the Web Instructions at https://sonic.maconstate.edu:9015/pls/PROD/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin
If you have a problem, please feel free to e-mail the Registrar or Assistant Registrar for help. Registrar: brenda.hogan@maconstate.edu You can also call the Registrar's Office at 471-2853.
Q. When are grades available on-line?
A. While your instructor may have already posted your grade through Banner Web, your grade may not be available for you to review on-line because it has not yet been processed by the Registrar's Office to your academic record. Typically, all grades are processed to each student's academic record only after faculty member has entered the grades in Banner Web or, at the latest, by the deadline for grades to be turned in by the faculty.
A. The deadline for all Summer 2013 grades from instructors is noon,Thurs., May 9, 2013.
Students can expect to see their grades on-line at about 3:00 p.m. the same day. End of term processing (Standing and GPA calculations) is projected to be complete no later than the close of business on Wed, May 15, 2013. Transcripts requiring Spring 2013 grades will be processed at that time.
If a transcript is needed earlier, students should contact the Registrar's Office as soon as possible. This is particularly applicable to students who are enrolled for the 1st Session only. Securing early grades in situations where a transcript is needed earlier than the end of the term is the responsibility of the student who must make arrangements with the instructor(s) concerned. Instructors will be responsible for insuring the Registrar is notified when "early" grades for the student concerned are available in Banner, or that the grade(s) are conveyed to the Registrar on a signed roll or memorandum.
Q. What about my GPA and Academic Standing at the end of the term?
A. After your grades are processed to your electronic academic record at the end of the term, there are still several more processing steps the Registrar must make before your record is complete for the term. Here's how it works. After grades are "rolled" to your academic history, a batch process identifying all students who have repeated courses must be run, audited and the records updated. This process takes about 3-4 hours to complete. Then, another batch process updating every student's Grade Point Average (GPA) must be run. This takes about two hours run-time on the mainframe. Next, the Academic Standing automated calculation process is run and audited, followed by the Dean's and President's Lists calculation. Again, auditing and some manual processing is required in these final steps before your academic record is finalized for the term. Overall, the entire end-of-term process takes about 8-10 hours for the Registrar to complete.
For information concerning the requirements to be in Good Standing, students should refer to the catalog. All students are required to have an institutional GPA of 2.0 or higher to be in Good Standing.
Q. Are grades mailed at the end of the term?
A. No! Effective at the end of the Summer 2002 term, grades were no longer mailed. This practice is typical throughout the University System. All students have access to their grades on-line. Students who are not in Good Standing academically receive their grades via the student e-mail system, however, to ensure these students are aware of their status.
