Information about the re-admission of former students
If you have attended Macon State College in the past, but have not earned your bachelor's degree, we very much would like to encourage you to come back to pursue one of our 13 bachelor's degrees. Did you know that people with a bachelor's degree earn an average of $1 million more over the course of a lifetime than those with high school diplomas only, according to the U.S. Department of Labor? And at Macon State, a four-year bachelor's degree is extremely affordable -- a total of about $10,000 at current tuition and fee rates.
If you have attended Macon State College within the past two years, were not dismissed or have not attended another institution since, you do not have to reapply for admission. You may simply register for the next semester. You can do this online at http://www.maconstate.edu/banner/ or through your advisor.
If you have not attended Macon State College within the previous two calendar years or have attended another institution during that period (except in a transient status from MSC to another institution) you are required to re-apply for admission. See the table below. No fee is charged for re-admission.
Planned Re-enrollment Term
Instructions concerning registration will be furnished upon acceptance for re-admission.
Students who have been dismissed from the College within the previous two years, and are eligible to return, must also reapply for admission.
How to reapply: You may reapply in one of several ways.
Online -- The easiest way is by completing this online application form and then pressing the "Submit by Email" button in the top right portion of the form. That will send the application directly to the re-admission specialist who will process your application. (To use the application form, you will need Acrobat Reader. Click for download and installation instructions) In person -- The form may be completed in person at any one of these locations: The Office of the Registrar, S-173, Student Life Building, Main Campus; the administrative offices at the Warner Robins Campus, located at the corner of University and Watson Boulevards across from City Hall; or at the Robins Residence Center on Robins Air Force Base. By mail or fax: You may print out the application form, complete it and then mail it or fax it to us as follows:

Academic Renewal. Former students who have experienced academic difficulty at Macon State in the past have an opportunity to make a fresh start at the College after an absence of five calendar years from any post-secondary institution. While all previously attempted course-work remains on the student's transcript, that work is excluded from the student's academic institutional GPA. For more information, former students considering this option should refer to the on-line catalog for more details. Applications may be mailed to the Registrar.
Transient Students: A former student who is planning to return to Macon State College as a "transient" student is indicating that he or she is currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student at another institution. In this status, transient students are enrolled at Macon State for a brief period (usually a semester) to obtain course-work that they plan to transfer back to their home institution to satisfy degree requirements at that institution. Transient students are required to furnish a letter (transient permission letter or form) from their home institution indicating that they are permitted to attend MSC temporarily. Usually the transient permission includes the courses they are expected to take. The College does not evaluate (for transfer credit purposes) any transcripts that may be furnished by "transient" students, nor are such transcripts required. Transient students are advised to request a transcript be sent to their home institution at the end of the term so that their course-work at Macon State may be posted to their academic record at that institution.
International Baccalaureate Credit -- Macon State College awards course credit for International Baccalaureate courses if the student is a diploma completer or holds a certificate of completion for Higher Level (HL) courses (in a subject area) and has an assessment score of 4 or higher. Credit currently awarded is shown in the table. Students should consult with the Office of the Registrar concerning the award of credit for IB examinations.
