Respiratory Therapy is a health care profession dedicated to the care, management, and life-support of individuals having deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system. The Respiratory Therapist is an expert in the use of therapeutic and diagnostic aids to respiration. He or she must have a working knowledge of chemistry, microbiology and physiology as well as the theory and practice of respiratory therapy.

Accreditation
The Respiratory Therapy Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).

Graduates will be eligible to take the Certification Respiratory Therapy (CRT) exam. Upon successful completion of the Certification Exam, graduates will be eligible to take the Registered Respiratory Therapist exam administered by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC). Application must be made for State Licensure (Georgia State Composite Medical Board) to work in the State of Georgia.

The application deadline for the Associate of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy for fall semester 2012 is has been extended to May 4, 2012. Entrance Exam administration will be held on May 8th at 1:30pm and May 10th at 4:30pm. Applications received after May 4, 2012 will be considered for spring semester 2013.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy does not have an application deadline.
