One thing people don’t know about Macon State is ... "The college has been teaching in Warner Robins since the early 1970s. At first, classes were taught exclusively at Robins AFB. In 1991 the College opened a second Warner Robins location in rented space on Osigian Blvd. A permanent Warner Robins facility was established in 2003 at our current location. We were very excited to open our third building, Oak Hall, just recently.
One thing people don’t know about her is ... "Early in my professional life I was a revenue officer for the Internal Revenue Service. I served five years. Although an interesting job, I always knew that I would someday return to the higher education field. Moving to Warner Robins in 1991 gave me that opportunity. I taught business courses at Middle Georgia Technical College before joining Georgia College & State University as the coordinator of business programs at Robins, then came to Macon State."
In her spare times she likes to ... "Spare time is a rare commodity in my life, but I do try to carve out a little time each day to swim. I am also an avid cook and enjoy cooking for family and friends. I love spending time with our family pets. Although we are currently coping with the loss of our beloved Labrador, Captain, our little Manx cat, Dixie, is filling the void until the next Labrador comes along for the Murphy family."
The one person she would most like to meet is ... "Sir Richard Branson. He has done so many different things in his life. He has been a successful entrepreneur, an adventurer, a philanthropist; a unique 'outside the box' thinker. No matter what his focus, he always seems to have a good time at what he is doing (he has his own Caribbean Island for goodness sake!)"
What she likes best about working at Macon State is ... "The wonderful group of people I work with every day! It is a joy to go to work. We have an extraordinary group of people on staff in Warner Robins with one common goal: to serve students. We are a relatively small staff so we all wear many 'hats,'but everyone has a 'can do' attitude and a smile! What more could I ask!"
