She chose Macon State College because … “I was non-traditional student who was seeking a non-traditional college experience. I needed a school with flexible schedules, affordable tuition and challenging studies. I am the mother of two children and I knew that college would take dedication on my part. I wanted a college that was just as dedicated to my success as I was.”
The one thing that surprised her about Macon State was … “How much each and every professor cared about me. Dr. Shamani-Jeffrey Shikwambi, Lane Brooks, Dr. Sumitra Himangshu, Nancy Greene, Dr. Randy Spaid, Loleta Sartin, Dr. Sara Worley, Molly Kimsey and many other education professors took a true and honest interest in my wellbeing.”
Her favorite professor was … “All of my education professors! If I had to name one person, I'd name Loleta Sartin. Her passion is literacy, as is mine, and she is always fired up and passionate about teaching.”
One thing people don’t know about her is … “I had my daughter four months early and she weighed only one pound, 5.8 ounces. She is now a healthy and happy seven-year-old!”
The one person she’d most like to meet is … “I've already met him, but if I could have five more minutes with someone, I’d love to hang out with my big brother again. He passed away in 2004 and I miss him every single day!”
Five years from now she sees herself … “Happy and living my life as an educator with my two children and continuing my education. Spending time with family and really just enjoying life!”
