Macon State College was one of 16 University System of Georgia institutions with a fall 2012 enrollment increase, a report released October 24 shows.
The college grew by 1.4 percent over last year, to an enrollment of 5,780.
“We are excited about the enrollment growth Macon State experienced this fall as it sets the stage for our future enrollment plans,” said Sheri Rowland, dean of admissions and enrollment management. “This past year, the campus community has worked hard to recruit, admit, and retain students in very competitive and challenging times. The success we have seen this fall encourages us to continue to ‘think outside the box’ and establish ourselves as an exemplary institution that produces graduates who can succeed in today’s world.
“While our overall growth was only 1.4%, we saw much higher gains with dual enrollment, beginning freshmen, students studying at the Warner Robins Campus, and in online learning.”
Macon State has campuses in Macon and Warner Robins. In January 2013, Macon State is consolidating with Middle Georgia College to become Middle Georgia State College. The new institution will have campuses in Macon, Cochran,Dublin, Eastman and Warner Robins.
