Juried Student Art Competition Calls for Submissions

The newly formed Fine Art Student Association is calling for entry of artwork from Macon State students to the first Macon State College Juried Student Art Competition.

Entries will be accepted between April 12 and April 26 in the Art Studio (Arts Complex on the Macon Campus, room 245) between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Artworks to be submitted for competition must have a completed submission form attached to each work.

Prizes and Reception: The opening reception in the Art Studio on Thursday, May 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. Refreshments will be offered. Announcement of winners will be made between 5 and 5:30 p.m. during the reception. First Place – $100 Second Place – $75 Third Place – $50   Honorable Mention† President’s Pick† †Prizes for these categories will be announced at the reception.

Entry Requirements: Any person who has been enrolled as a full or part-time student at Macon State College during the 2011-2012 academic year is eligible to submit artwork. Types of artwork accepted are: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Photography, Digital Art, Sculpture Ceramics, Mixed Media.

Works submitted must be original and may not be a reproduction or derivative of another’s artwork, including photographs, in any capacity.

Up to 3 entries per student may be submitted. Only artworks created after September 1, 2010 will be eligible for the exhibition.

Artworks may not exceed the following specifications: A maximum of 40” x 40” for 2-D works and a maximum of 4’ x 4’ x 4’ for 3-D works. Some weight restrictions may apply. Special consideration for exceeding these restrictions may be considered with the inclusion of a Special Consideration Request for that may be filled out and attached to the work with the submission.

Each work submitted must be ready for display (i.e. framed or provided, with instructions, in the manner in which it should be displayed) and have a completed submission sheet attached to it. If the work is not provided ready for display and/or does not have a completed submission sheet, it will not be considered for the competition.

This Juried Student Competition is funded through student activity fees and is free to all members of the Macon State College campus community. All artwork submitted to the competition are self-expressions of those who created them and are not intended to represent the ideas or views of Fine Art Student Association or its advisers. They do not reflect the views of the Macon State College faculty, staff, administration, student body, or the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

The Fine Art Student Association reserves the right to reject artworks from the competition that may be considered to propagate hate against a particular person, race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, sexual orientation or that is deemed by the club to be pornographic.
