The purpose of Library Instruction is to introduce students to the resources, materials, and services available at the Macon State College Library, and to teach them how to find, select, and evaluate information in all formats.  The Library offers formal library instruction sessions that can be requested by faculty.  All instruction sessions are tailored to the needs of a particular class and assignment.  Faculty can select from a variety of types of instruction ranging from basic how-to introduction sessions to advanced upper-level research.  Classes are offered on both the main campus and at WRC.

Faculty members wishing to schedule a Library Instruction session on the main campus should contact Felicia Haywood (471-2867) or Robin Grant (471-2866).  To schedule a session at WRC, contact Ann Williams (929-6812).  Please schedule your instruction sessions at least ONE WEEK in advance of desired date to ensure room scheduling and preparation time.

Here are some comments from Macon State students after their library instruction sessions:

“I had no clue these resources existed.  I am excited and will go home and familiarize myself with these resources.”

“I didn’t know the Library offered so much.”

“We should have had this at the beginning of the semester.  It would have saved a lot of time and frustration.  Thank you!”
