Social Security (SSI)

Terms, conditions, requirements, reservations, benefits, privileges and other conditions of Title VI of the Social Security Act, as amended apply to all offices and employees of the University System except those specifically excluded under the agreement with the ERS (Employees Retirement System of Georgia) providing coverages.

The following employees are covered by Social Security:

1. All employees eligible for the TRS or ORP (Teachers Retirement System or Optional Retirement)
2. All temporary, seasonal or intermittent employees whose work hours are a normal full-time working period.

The following employees are not covered by SSI:

1. Student Assistants
2. Graduate Assistants
3. Non-Immigrant aliens who are exempt, in accordance with their Visas
