Macon State Students
Providing scholarships for deserving students is one of the most important responsibilities of the Macon State College Foundation. Many individuals, businesses and organizations have found that establishing a scholarship fund through the Foundation is a valuable and meaningful way to support the community, while providing the opportunity to pay tribute to a special person or keep the memory of a loved one alive. Once established, the Macon State College Foundation promotes the scholarship, selects the recipient and manages contributions to the fund.

Named Annual Scholarships
To establish a named annual scholarship, a donor enters into an agreement with the Macon State College Foundation to contribute a specific dollar amount annually to be awarded in that year as a scholarship.  The benefits to the donor are the privilege of naming the scholarship, establishing the criteria for the student recipient, and the immediate gratification of seeing it awarded the next scholarship season. The minimum initial contribution to establish an annual named scholarship is $1,500.

Named Endowed Scholarships
When establishing an endowed scholarship, a donor enters into an agreement with the Macon State College Foundation to establish a fund into which donor’s contribution will be invested. Once the principle of the fund reaches the minimum $20,000 required for endowment, awards are made from the fund's income and appreciation. The benefit to the donor is the fund's existence in perpetuity, as well as the ability to build the fund over time.

Donors who wish to support student scholarship at less than the amount required for naming a scholarship, may make a gift to the Foundation's general scholarship fund.  These gifts are pooled and awarded annually to selected students.
