1ST REFUND DATE FOR SPRING Full and First Sessions 2013 - FEBRUARY 5, 2013
The first financial aid remaining balance refunds for 201302 Full and First Sessions will be released to Higher One on February 5, 2013. This date occurs later than in previous academic years due to a revision to the financial aid disbursement schedule as described here:
At the start of the semester or part-of-term session, disbursement of financial aid funds to student accounts will occur after the drop/add period has ended and no-show reporting has been finalized. Per federal regulations, refunds of remaining credit balances are released no later than 14 calendar days after posting of financial aid disbursements to student accounts. Following this period, refunds are processed weekly.
FAQs
How will my classes be paid if my financial aid hasn't disbursed to my student account?
- At the early registration payment deadline, authorized or memoed financial aid that covers your total charges will hold your class schedule.
- At the first-day-of-class payment deadline, only authorized financial aid that covers your total charges will hold your class schedule. You will be required to pay the difference owed or, if eligible, obtain a financial aid deferment from the Financial Aid Office.
Note: If you have questions regarding financial aid that is still memoed (not authorized), review your BannerWeb financial aid information. To do so, refer to instructions provided by the Financial Aid Office at:
http://www.maconstate.edu/finaid/banner_instructions.aspx
What is authorized or memoed financial aid?
Authorized financial aid is aid that has been approved and processed, but must wait for an official disbursement date to arrive before it can be disbursed (posted) to your student account. Memoed financial aid may include financial aid that is still in the process of being authorized.
How will I be able to use my financial aid in the Bookstore?
The Bookstore interface to our Banner Student Information System will use the amount of authorized aid combined with any actual credit on your student account in the calculation of available credit for purchases. Financial aid purchases can be made beginning the first day of regular registration and ending approximately two weeks after the first day of class.
How will I receive my refund?
Macon State College utilizes the Higher One debit card to deliver refunds of tuition, fees, scholarships and financial aid remaining balances to students. Every student will receive an "Easy Refund" MasterCard from Higher One in the mail. This card is a debit card, not a credit card, and can be used anywhere debit cards are accepted. More information about the Higher One Easy Refund card can be found on the College's website at Macon State College: Higher One Refund Card. All students should activate their cards even if they do not expect to receive a refund.
