The Macon State College Departmental Mathematics Test (DMT) also known as the Math Placement Test (MPT) measures your readiness for college-level math courses. Advisors use your DMT/MPT score to determine the math courses you are ready to take.
You need to take the DMT/MPT if:
- Your math score on the SAT was between 430 and 550, exclusive or, for the ACT between 18 and 24, exclusive, or
- You took the College Placement Exam and scored 80 or higher, or
- You have completed Learning Support requirements in math.
Students required to take the DMT/MPT and who score a 12 or higher can enroll in MATH 1111 (College Algebra).
If you score less than 12, you must first enroll in MATH 1101 (Mathematical Modeling) before taking MATH 1111.
For many students, MATH 1101 will satisfy their MATH requirement for their degree plan. Your advisor can inform you of the required mathematics courses needed for your degree.
