The Institutional SAT has been suspended at Macon State College. Students should register for a national SAT testing session at www.collegeboard.com

The Institutional SAT (ISAT) Reasoning Test is the SAT College Board test made available to Macon State College for on-campus administration on dates set by the college.
If you plan to apply to any other institution, you must take the National SAT.

The ISAT is a three and one-half standardized exam. It measures verbal and mathematical reasoning skills that students have developed and needed to be academically successful.

The ISAT is a paper-based exam, consisting of verbal and math sections.  Students should plan about four (4) hours for completing the test.  The new SAT writing section is not currently a part of the Institutional SAT at MSC, but may be added in the future.  The results from this exam are only valid at Macon State College and can’t be transfer to other institutions.  The Academic Testing Center administers the Institutional SAT at various times during each semester.

The fee for the Institutional SAT is $45 and can be paid to the Academic Testing Center by cash or check just prior to taking the exam.  Testing dates vary and you can check the latest calendar by clicking here.  You should signup in advance of the testing date by calling Academic Testing at 478-471-2050 or signup online by clicking here.

Results are provided directly to the Admissions Office and are generally available within 24 hours of completing the exam.  The Admissions Office will provide students with feedback on the ISAT exam.

When the ISAT is required for admission, the Admissions Office may request other special administration dates to accommodate perspective Macon State College students.

You should bring the following items when taking the ISAT:

  • Current photo ID i.e., driver's license or passport.
  • Simple four-function or scientific calculator. Other kinds of calculators or similar devices are NOT allowed.

No eating, drinking, and using a cell phone or any testing aids (aside from a calculator) is NOT allowed in the testing room. Using a cell phone is not allowed at all during the testing session.

While preparing for the ISAT is definitely advised, the Academic Testing Center does not endorse a particular preparation method. Here are some preparation options:

  • Visit the official SAT web site: http://www.collegeboard.com
Prep books and software are available at libraries, bookstores, and from online vendors.
