DANTES/DSST (DANTES Subject Standardized Tests)

DANTES/DSST program is an extensive series of examinations in college subject areas that are comparable to the final or end-of-course examinations in undergraduate courses. ACE recommends 3 semester hours of credit per test.

Notes:

1. (M) indicates that this exam is accepted by Macon State College for credit but students should check their degree plans to ensure this course counts toward graduation before taking the test.

2. (CCAF) indicates that this exam is accepted by the Community College of the Air Force for General Education or Program Electives.

3. Students may take only one DSST exam during a scheduled testing session.

4. Students taking The Principles of Public Speaking exam may experience a delay in completing this test due to lack of a quiet classroom needed for recording the speech.

There are two fees for each DSST examination taken.

• DSST charges $80 for the examination and Macon State College charges a $25 administration fee. 
• The $80 fee is waived for active-duty personnel, reserve members, and National Guard members.  Proper military ID is required for this fee waiver. 
• The DSST charge is paid using a credit card during test registration on the day of the examination. 
• The MSC charge is paid prior to taking the test and can be paid in the main Business Office, the satellite Business Office inside the Registrar’s office or to a member of the Academic Testing staff during check in.  Note the testing staff can accept only cash or checks. 

Students should check the college catalog for course equivalents, passing scores, and hours awarded for each test.  Also, students should consult with their advisor prior to taking any credit examination to ensure it fits into their degree plan.
