The Georgia College Placement Examination (CPE) is the forerunner of the COMPASS Placement entrance examination. The CPE is given to assess what level of college courses a student is ready to attempt.
The CPE is used when the COMPASS Placement entrance examination is not available or impractical to administer. Situations when the CPE might be used include a computer outage in the testing lab or when testing a large number of students at a single session.
The CPE is a paper-based test and covers mathematics, writing and reading subject areas.
- Each test section has a 45-minute time limit.
- Students record their answers on scanner sheets.
- The scanner sheets are scored locally by the Academic Testing staff.
- Results are provided to the Admissions office within 24-hours of test completion.
