Students may apply in the Admissions Office (first floor of Student Life Center), by mail (Admissions Office, 100 College Station Drive, Macon, GA, 31206-5145) or on-line. For more information, call 471-2800. What is your tuition? As a state college of the University System, MSC offers a two-tiered tuition plan. Tuition is at one rate for freshmen and sophomores and at another rate for juniors and seniors who are Georgia residents. For the amounts, go to Tuition and Fees. Does MSC require the SAT? Yes, for some applicants. The Office of Admissions will notify applicants for whom the SAT is required. What is the college placement exam? The CPE is an advising tool used to determine the appropriate instructional level for students to begin college work. It is not a pass/fail test. Adult students who graduated from high school more than five years ago, take the CPE rather than the SAT. Will I see an advisor before I register? Yes. All first-time students will meet with an advisor before registering. Information on orientation and advising is mailed along with acceptance letters from the College. Will I have to re-take college courses that I completed 20 years ago? Generally, no. There is no time limit on transfer work in general academic areas such English and history. Some restrictions apply for a small number of courses such as chemistry, anatomy and physiology. Do you offer financial aid? Yes, contact the Financial Aid Office at (478) 803-1200 for applications. The office is located on the second floor of the Student Life Center. Should I complete the admissions process before I apply for financial aid? NO! The financial aid process usually takes four to six weeks so you need to apply as soon as possible. When do I pay tuition? On or before the published payment deadline printed in the official class schedule you receive during registration. To get a copy of the current schedule of classes, call the Admissions Office at 471-2800. Can I pay my tuition in installments? The University System of Georgia does not offer an installment tuition plan. However, you may pay your tuition using a major credit card. Do you offer scholarships? Yes. Contact the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs at 471-2732 or the Office of Admissions at 471-2800 for a complete listing. What is considered a full-time course load? For financial aid and insurance purposes, students who carry at least 12 semester hours are considered full time. Most full-time students carry 15 academic hours per semester. Do I have to be full time? No. You may take only one course if that is best for you. Students should be aware, however, that part-time enrollment may affect financial aid benefits. How do I register? New students register as part of the orientation process. Other eligible students may register over the Web, in the Registrar's Office (first floor, Student Life Center), in the Academic Advising Center (second floor, Student Life Center), at our Warner Robins Campus on Watson Boulevard or at the Robins Resident Center at Robins Air Force Base. Can someone help me explore programs of study? Yes. The MSC Academic Advising Center, located on the second floor of the Student Life Center, works specifically with 'undecided' majors. Does Macon State offer night classes? Yes. The majority of Macon State courses are offered both day and evening. Do I need an appointment to visit the campus? No. The Admissions Office, located on the first floor of the Student Life Center, is open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday. Will Macon State College credit transfer to other colleges? Yes. Macon State College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Ga., 30033-4097; 404-679-4501) to award baccalaureate and associate degrees. The College serves as a point of access to the University System of Georgia. Macon State credit is transferable throughout the University System and to other accredited institutions across the nation. Does MSC offer refresher courses? Yes. Refresher courses are offered for students who need to brush up on skills in writing, math or reading. Will financial aid pay for refresher level courses? Generally, yes, as long as the student demonstrates a need for such courses. Is there someone who can help me complete my financial aid forms? Yes. Students may complete the FASFA on-line in the Financial Aid Office with financial aid advisors close by to help. The Financial Aid Office is located on the second floor of the Student Life Center. When can I see my final grades on Banner Web? Grades are available for viewing by students only after all final exams have been completed and faculty have turned in their grades. This means that grades are available about 2-3 days after all final exams are over. I am enrolled in MSCC 1000 online course. What do I do now? If you are in a ''Perspectives'' course, you will receive information about the requirements for MSCC 1000 in that class. If you are not in a ''Perspectives'' course, go to the Academic Resource Center (ARC) on the lower level of the Library Building and ask about an orientation to MSCC 1000. Exams for MSCC 1000 are given in the Testing Center on the second floor of the Student Life Building. The dates for the exams are available through the MSCC 1000 listserv. I think I have enough hours to graduate, but I'm not sure. How can I find out? Go to the Registrar's Office and apply for graduation two semesters before you want to graduate. A degree audit will be done, and you will be notified if you have any outstanding requirements remaining. I have decided to change my major. How do I do that? Fill out a Change of Major Form in the Registrar's Office. I want to meet with my advisor, but she teaches off-campus. Faculty email addresses are available through the Faculty Directory. Click on Academics and Faculty Directory and send an email to your advisor requesting an appointment. You can also call the school secretary and ask assistance in making an appointment with your advisor. I still can't find the answer to my question. Can you help? Absolutely.
