As a complement to Macon State College's baccalaureate mission, we offer 30 associate degree programs --
many of which can be completed in two years -- that embody the core curriculum and will transfer to any other
University System of Georgia institution, as well as to most other public and private colleges and universities
in the nation.
For this reason, many people refer to these as Transfer Degrees or Transfer Programs, since most of them are
designed for students who decide to attend Macon State for a short time and then transfer to another institution,
taking their credits with them.
In a few cases, an Associate of Science (A.S.) or an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree may satisfy the degree
qualifications graduates need to obtain certain jobs. Three of our A.S. degrees can be used by students to begin
careers in nursing, respiratory therapy or health information technology. For this reason, these three programs
are sometimes referred to as Career Programs or Career Associate Degrees. Macon State also offers bachelor's degrees
in all three of these areas for those students seeking the additional career advancement opportunties available with
the four-year degree.
Most of our other two-year degree programs are specifically designed to satisfy the core curriculum requirements
for students who expect to continue their advancement toward a bachelor's degree at Macon State or at some other
institution. In addition to bachelor's and associate degrees, we also offer a limited number of certificates, most of
which can be completed in one or two semesters. The certificates usually are related to specific types of businesses.
To review the course requirements for these associate degrees, please follow this link to the Academic Catalog page,
select the link to the most recent catalog, then use the search function to find the information about the program in which
you have interest.
All of these programs are designed for students seeking to transfer into a four-year bachelor's degree program.
